Does Web Hosting effect SEO Rankings

Hi,

I have many .co.uk web sites hosted on UK server, now I am planning to shift all those sites to Web hosting company in India. Will this affect my Search Engine Ranking in Google.co.uk. My sites are doing very good in Google.co.uk.

Is there anything like co.uk sites hosted UK server ranks well than those sites hosted on India Server.

Yes, moving your servers from your target country can have a negative affect on your SERPs for Google UK searches.

However, the affect can be minimised by generating plenty of backlinks from sites located in the uk be they directories, forums or other sites.

keep them in the target country, moving them will weaken your position....

surreypcsupport.com comments are also true but you are fighting an uphill battle if you move.

I had a uk client with a .com, hosted in germany who tried to get uk results for 5 years before we took over.

We moved him to a .co.uk, hosted him in uk and very quickly seen him jump up....within 4 months he had went from 3 results to over 500 first page positions!!!!

Google uses Geographic target based on domain names. They automatically switch the target if it is like .co.uk, .co.br or .in etc
Now, since you are not switching the domain, so technically the ranking shouldn't go down.

But if your users are from UK, then you should keep hosting server in UK itself such that your users will get more speed rather than keeping your server in India.
