well, if ur under 13 then then I guess a "gaming" console is the way to go!
If you want to get a good game, some online play and actually use some skill then PC FTW!!
I too am well up for this debate, sure there are some fun games for consoles but I have yet to see a challenging one. The recent consoles have introduced internet play which is great but its still on the same console platform.
Bottom line is, game manufacturers make the games harder for PC players because they are generally older, better and expect more whereas console games are marketed towards teenagers.

Well actually console gamers are a lot older now as gamers have grown up with consoles mega drive etc and some of the best selling games for consoles have an 18 cert GTA for example I think games have gotten easier over the years I remember when u couldn’t save a game, you had to do the whole game through with just the lives you start with and most games never got completed and developers didn’t bother with good endings cause they didn’t expect people to see them remember Thrust?
Making games hard don’t naturally make them good if you’re paying £40 for a game you want to be able to play the whole game through and PC games are mostly played on line so really just as hard as the person you’re playing.
One thing console games are guilty of is sticking with a tested formula like racing games and FPS. Nintendo are famously bad at this, PC games have a wider choice of genre’s maybe it’s got something to do with being able to convert certain games to use with a controller. |

TY for making my point lol
"most games never got completed and developers didn’t bother with good endings cause they didn’t expect people to see them"
I don't think there was ever a console game I couldn't finish!!!!!. In fact as kids we used to strive to finish them without taking a hit lol. What you are talking about regards being able to save etc is more an advancement in technology, its hard to think how much we have come forward in terms of programming sometimes but dont forget a lot of those early games where just repetitive crap. Space invaders for example just got a bit faster each level. Mario Bros, just differently placed blocks n baddies each level......
I think you are missing the point about difficulty I mentioned before.
Console games, tend to be easier to complete as they are targeting a certain market....once a fun game is completed it encourages gamers to go buy the next one. Also they are traditionally tasked with quirkiness, low attention spans etc as opposed to the PC variant which is more tactical. and usually longer played.
Its not a negative comment on consoles per se, but more in respect to he audience they are marketed too. Its the difference between an episode of the Simpson's and a fantastic movie with many intelligent twists and turns.
Most of the time hamburgers are great, but as you grow older, you appreciate a quality steak more n more, though its fun to pop out for a mc burger every now and then.
I dont think its anything to do with the use of a controller and / or lack of buttons or controls. Can you imagine trying to play Wii Olympics on PC lol. - An absolutly fantastic game but never gonna make it too PC lol.
PC games are designed for more longevity, to be more challenging, and to involve the player more - more thought provoking and involved as they are targeted to an older audience. Consoles are for pick me up / put me down, short attention span, usually younger players, which results in the console version usually being easier but quite often more fun, in the short term.
Another important factor is the cost. PC's used to be out of the reach of most people (therefore the games were for richer and supposedly more intelligent people - I can remember when consoles had great games but PC's just had chess etc) and consoles where the best option. However, we can see this combining as consoles are now using internet connections for game play and I dont think its very long until they merge.
Think about the games currently offered on SKY tv for example. All will agree they are basic n simple, but often fun. This is an extreme example of the comparison being made but it serves well to make the point.
Each of these mediums have an audience and unless the audience changes then the different platforms will present their respective games in different ways.
ANYMOO - My point summed up is:
CONSOLES = Fast, addictive, young, gamers with low attention spans.
PC = Older, More intelligent, challenging, and interactive. _________________ Captain Moo - Site Administrator

| Gaming consoles boast alot of really interesting games. But for me personally, I prefer the good old PC. Unless I have some friends over so we can play Tekken or Naruto fighting games, I find it boring to play alone. I'm a sociable player so I like the PC better. |
