| Your favorite thing about having a blog may soon be this - they naturally attract search engine traffic. Blogs already have optimized site architecture. Most are set up with a clear navigation, where every page is set up to link back to the other main pages. They also have the inherent potential to be well-linked. |

One mistake made by the amatuer blogger is that they don't realize that you can optimize your blog. True, most blogs only have a few areas, namely the "home" page and the "archive" page. But depending on the tool being used to post the blog, there are some places where you can take advantage seo-wise.
The title of your blog should be thought of as a headline - grab the reader's attention - but also be sure that your blog title is also what gets archived - that way your titles can become search queries as well.
While the main objective of a blog should be to get your message out, don't forget to take a little time for SEO and you should see your efforts payoff in the search engine results pages. |

The beauty of having a blog is that you don't really have to look after the optimisation much, it just comes naturally.
You can configure it pretty easily to pull blog titles as the meta titles and have the titles set as <h1>'s for search engine results etc, but much of the benefit of a blog post is that it usually addresses a certain issue and it's quality and relevance will play the biggest part in how it ranks.
Basically, optimise your blog, then write interesting original content that's useful, engaging, funny, etc. |
